PLANS to cut opening hours at train station ticket offices in Surrey have been met with criticism from county hall. South West Trains (SWT) is currently consulting on proposals to cut back services at 27 stations, including Guildford, Milford and Witley.

This year I have become a regular commuter using Milford Station and have become increasingly frustrated and let down by the service provided from the ticket office at Milford Station. SW Trains state on the ticket office door the Ticket Office will be open from 06.30 to 10.30 Monday to Saturday, frequently it isn't manned at all and I've never found it open on a Saturday. The ticket machine has only just been reinstalled after being defective and absent for 6 months but to process a ticket on it now takes too long, it's over sensitive to some cards and rejects cards without reason, not very helpful in the morning when there's a queue of people needing tickets. Also it's only programmed to issue daily car parking tickets, thereby fleecing anyone wanting a weekly ticket by $4.50 or more. Although there is a car park ticket machine in the car park but again it only dispenses daily tickets and not weekly, also it doesn't have facilities to accept cards. As far as I see SW trains have a total disregard for their customers, don't want to provide the service they are franchised to provide and have an ambition to close all the ticket offices to increase profitability.
Not a happy commuter as far as SW Trains are concerned.
